Ostrich

Still having lots of fun digital painting and working with animals.  This super happy Ostrich was just a ton of fun to work on.  I'm happy with myself for just sticking to pure 100% colours and not messing around with the opacity of the colours I was using.  I found that was one of the biggest issues I had going from traditional to digital painting.    Hope you enjoy!

Wildebeast

After my Crocodile, I wanted to try my hand at designing a fun looking Wildebeast.  Or in this case, a very angry looking Wildebeast.  I had a lot of fun both designing, and doing the colour work on this one.  Hope you enjoy!

Crocodile

My wife and I recently got Yiynova tablets for ourselves.  I have to say, after using a Cintiq for over a year, and then using the Yiynova, there is very little difference.  I'm also the type of guy who doesn't complain when it comes to drawing though.  So, the fact that we could each get a Yiynova for less than one Cintiq, I was more than happy to make the purchase.  Now I've mainly been animating on my tablet since getting it, so I haven't been doing too many photoshop drawings with it.  This was a quick sketch that I did tonight.  I hope I can keep doing at least one a week so I can keep improving on my character, and colour work.  Hope you Enjoy!

Life Drawing 3

Some more Life Drawings!!! Not the most recent ones I've done, but still enjoyable to look back at some older drawings.  It's hard to believe that they're almost a year old now.  I look at them as inspiration for myself to keep drawing, trying new things, striving to improve my abilities.  Hope you enjoy!

Muscle Car!

I've always loved Hot Wheels. Nothing was better when I was growing up than taking out my collection into my parents garden and driving them around all over the place.  Now that I've grown up, I still collect the odd Hot Wheel now and again, but instead of driving them around, I'm busy drawing them!  The first two images of the car are observational studies of one of my many cars.  Once I finished it up, I got thinking what type of a character would drive around in this classic muscle car and came up with this fun looking fellow.  I also wanted to start having a little more fun with some of my old art supplies that I've had sitting around.  What can I say, I love drawing in pencil and prismacolors a little too much. I did the tones in markers that I had originally bought over 10 years ago!  Hows that for some long lasting art materials.  Hope you enjoy!

Pig Captain

A quick sketch I did tonight of my Pirate Pig Captain from a previous post.  I'm quite happy with where this is going so far, and I think I just may have to add some colour to it.  I may have to start creating a vicious pig pirate crew for him to lead into battle.  Hope you enjoy!

Figure Drawing 2

Another three figure drawings from the past year.  This was when I was really enjoying using a nice soft conte, and slowly getting into colour.  I had tried out the same colours while at school, but I never felt I hit on the right combination or the right method of putting down the pastels.  Once I got a little more bold with my colour choices, and started using a darker blue I feel that things started to go in the right direction for me.  Hope you enjoy!
