Girl Design

I designed this fun character after graduating from Animation.  I designed her for a very epic, and fun idea that I have that I've slowly been developing.  Looking back on the design, I am quite pleased with what I came up with.  I am curious to have another go at drawing her to see what I may, or may not change on her.  I'm hoping to keep slowly developing the idea and finish up my very rough storyboard sometime soon. At the same time, I don't want to rush it, so once I'm ready I'll get it done!  Hope you enjoy!

Figure Drawing

These are some of my more recent Figure Drawings.  They aren't all necessarily from the same session, but I do enjoy seeing where my figure drawing has come after all the years I've been doing it.  One of the most interesting things I've found is how quickly I am able to make my decisions while drawing.  Playing with colour, and making it an addition to my work has also been very fun and challenging.  I look forward to keep doing more, and trying new different, mediums on my journey.

Lil' Viking

I originally came up with this little viking in my second year of Animation School.  I had an idea for a shipwrecked viking who goes on hilarious adventures on the island he ends up on.  I sort of abandoned the idea, but recently have started up a short and re-designed a new viking to go on new hilarious adventures. Unfortunately for this guy, I probably won't be using him in the near future.  He was heavily inspired by Yosemite Sam, and I've always liked his very simple design.  Maybe I'll end up doing something with him.  We'll see.  Hope you enjoy!

Pirate Pigs and Some Line Work

So it's definitely been too long since I've posted.  Needless to say I've been very busy with lots of exciting stuff this year.  Plus for some reason work, my new puppy, and getting married has kept me very busy.

Anyway, here are a couple of photoshop files I've been working on.  The Tarzan looking guy facing off against the big cat is for an idea I've had for a while.  The character has changed since I first started the piece, but the overall idea has remained the same.  The main issue I've been having with my idea is how do you design a character that lives in a jungle and not make him look like a Glen Keane Tarzan clone.  Especially when the big chin and sloping brow are so perfect for that type of character.  Like I say, his look has changed, so hopefully it's enough that he isn't a Tarzan clone anymore.

The second piece was just a fun paint I did for an idea I had about a pirate ship full of pigs hunting down, and battling a pirate ship full of butchers.  I wanted a painterly style and to work with heavy opacities on photoshop while I did it.  Overall, I'm pleased with it, learned a lot from working in a different way then I'm used to and most importantly, had fun with it.  I think I just may have to keep doing more of these.  Hope you enjoy!
